Do You Have a Money Block?

Do you have a money block—a subconscious bit of “old programming” that gets in the way of your making, and keeping, more money?

The short answer is, if your financial situation is not where you know it could be then yes, you have a money block. (Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!)

If you want to get more specific about how your money block shows up, ask yourself:

  • Do I make less than I know I’m capable of?
  • Do I struggle to raise my rates to what others are charging, even though I’m giving as much as (or more than!) they are?
  • Does it feel like I’m on a money roller coaster, making plenty of money one month, then wondering how I’m going to pay the bills the next?
  • Does it seem like I lose any extra money as soon as I get it? [Maybe you invest it in yet another expensive program. Or an unexpected bill comes in. Or….]
  • Does it seem like I’m stuck at the same financial level, no matter what I do?

These are just some of the common ways money blocks make their presence known. 

And as long as you have a subconscious money block, it doesn’t matter how motivated you are to make more money, rein in your spending, or grow your business, you will keep holding yourself back. 

I get it. It is sooooo frustrating to have to keep doing battle with yourself, over and over again. Pouring all this energy into your business and never seeing the returns you know are within your reach! 

It doesn’t have to be this way. I’ve released all of these money blocks—and more—with clients.

I know how frustrating it is to be able to see in your mind the life you want to live, but hold yourself back when it comes time to create it. 

Over and over again, you start something—a plan, a project, a program—but then you lose momentum. What started out as a total commitment on your part turns into a might-have-been, just gathering dust on the shelf. 

It is crazy-making! 

And it doesn’t have to be this way.

You can follow through on your goals, creating—and living—the life you want. You just need to get rid of the subconscious blocks that have been getting in your way. 

That’s exactly what I do with my clients. With Tapping we uncover and release the blocks that have been stopping them.

You Are Not Lazy!

I get it. I know how frustrating it is to just simply want to finish one thing that we start—one of our projects. One of our marketing initiatives. One of the programs we’ve bought. 

And yet, you’re afraid you’re just going to do what you always do. Start strong but then switch to something else, promising yourself that you will get back to it when you have time. You’ll finish it this time, you swear! 

But you know deep down that you won’t. Because you never do. 

It’s so frustrating!

There’s a graveyard of great projects you’ve left half-done sitting on your shelf, or in your computer, or in the back of your mind. You know that finishing even one of them will move your business up a level, bringing in more clients who need your help, and making you more money. And it would be so easy to just pick one, finish it and get it out there. 

So why don’t you?

I know what you’ve been telling yourself. “I guess I’m just lazy.”  And I want to give you a hug (and, honestly, a little shake) and tell you: 

That’s. Not. True! 

You aren’t lazy. You know it. You work really hard. You are so busy doing so many things. Someone who works as hard as you do is not lazy.

So why aren’t you doing the things that will get you what you really want? 

More clients. More money. More time to yourself. 

Instead you are stuck at the same level, hoping for those things but not making them happen. 

I’ve seen this with so many clients. They come to me so frustrated that they’ve been stuck for so long. Wondering what’s wrong with them. And they’ve started to tell themselves the story that they must be lazy. It’s the only way they can make sense of why they aren’t doing the thing that will get them what they want. 

So we get to work. We figure out what’s really happening below the surface that’s been slowing them down. (It’s never been that they’re lazy. Not once in all the clients I’ve worked with.)

We tap to release the blocks that have been holding them back. Messages they internalized long ago. Messages that went in so deep, they became “Truths” that they were compelled to live by.

And as those blocks lift, they find themselves just finishing things that before would have sat on the shelf forever. It surprises them how easy it is now.

I know that you’re capable of finishing what you start. I know that you have it in you to be somebody who feels proud of your accomplishments. Now it’s time for you to know it.

And to let it be easy.

What the News Is Doing To Your Old Money Stories

Have you noticed how all the bad economic news has activated you these days? My clients and I definitely have!

All the big lay-offs, so many small businesses going under, a tidal wave of unemployment—it’s bringing up a lot of fear and feelings of lack. And it’s activating old money stories.

When that happens, our negative feelings start running the show, affecting how we show up, what we do (or don’t do), and basically messing with our finances.

I go into more detail here.

Maybe you have one or more old money stories that is getting triggered now, something like:

  • I don’t deserve more.
  • Making money is too hard.
  • I’m no good with money.
  • There’s never enough.

If so, you’re probably not enjoying what you’re seeing in your financial picture.

When you’re seeing that kind of hit on your finances, one of the best things to do is to really clear out those limiting stories you have around money so you can get back in charge. 

The best way to do that is with EFT—or “Tapping.”

Why You’re Procrastinating Now

If you’re procrastinating—or procrastinating more—these days, there are reasons.

I talked about those reasons in this week’s Facebook Live:

First, stress is taking a toll on everyone right now. And the energy you use to deal with your stress gets taken away from the actions you would like to be doing now, whether that’s creating an online program, cleaning out a closet, or learning a new language. Understanding this dynamic can help you take some of the pressure off yourself.

Beyond that, more than the usual amount of stress in your life “raises the bar” so that the usual ways you use to get around your procrastination simply are no longer enough.

So, if you haven’t completely gotten rid of the subconscious blocks that lead you to procrastinate (which is what I do with clients), they will definitely be more powerful now.

For these reasons, I encourage you to give yourself grace during extra stressful times like these when you aren’t getting as much done.

4 Things To Do Now To Lower Your Pandemic Stress

The news is alarming, I know. Wherever you are, know that I am sending thoughts and prayers for the health and safety of you and your loved ones. I also want to send you something more concrete to help you in these times.

I don’t know about you, but I spent last week freaking out as all the changes I’d been hearing about around the world went from distant to my backyard. First the Seattle public schools closed, sending my almost-thirteen-year-old home for two weeks. The next day we heard schools would be closed for at least six weeks. Then the libraries closed. Then all the cafes and restaurants. Each change shrunk my world a bit more.

Now, I understand the need to close these spaces and am more than happy to do my part to slow the spread of the disease, keep my neighbors safe, and limit the impact on our medical communities. But last week I found myself scattered, spending a lot of time on Google News, unable to focus on most things.

The one thing I was able to focus on was my clients, who were also struggling with the changes brought on by this pandemic. Many are business owners who were worried, unable to think of how to keep their businesses afloat. So we tapped on what they were experiencing, lowering their stress so they could access their creativity and find ways to get their businesses back on track.

By Friday, I realized I also needed to lower my own stress levels so I could stop procrastinating and take action in my business. Which I did by Tapping, which is a great stress reliever—when I remember to use it on myself! I also realized that it was important to share tapping with you in whatever ways I can.

So if you are finding your stress levels going up, whether you are a business owner or not, here are some things you can do now to help you lower your stress.

  1. Watch this recording of a Facebook Live I did last week right before everything in Seattle started shutting down. In it I demonstrate two straightforward ways to tap to lower any stress you are feeling from the current situation (as well as some non-tapping actions you can take).

You’ll not only see how to do an even simpler third way of tapping for stress, you’ll hear exactly why it’s important to be tapping every day, given what’s going on, to prevent future problems.
